foot foot – the garden
A bad Hinge date, a worse breakup and a November that wouldn’t stop raining: Esther started writing “the garden” in the winter of 2024, before foot foot’s debut album was even out. The lyric turns that aftermath into a private escape, a garden with a queue that runs for hours, a makeshift home in the grass where God can’t see from up there, clothes left on the floor. Then comes the catch: with her eyes closed, the face in front of her becomes the one she’s trying to forget. The last line keeps repeating until shutting her eyes stops sounding like a trick and starts sounding like the only way through the night.
The band fleshed it out in writing sessions until it felt like a song already on its way somewhere. They cared more about the route than the arrival, and recorded it the following year in the basement of the Louisiana in Bristol. It’s the first taste of PREY TIME, their label debut EP, out October 27 on Memorials of Distinction, with a CD edition that bundles in the debut album too. A UK headline tour and slots at SWN and Mutations come next.
